Swine 09

October25

So it’s been a while….

We went to the autism conference in Dallas. We had a GREAT time and learned SO MUCH!! Before we really got back into the groove of things coming back home after being gone for 4 days, yes 4 DAYS!! Alex got really sick. I’ve never seen a kid throw up so violently. I took him in to the doctor and sure enough we were give a H1N1 swine flu diagnosis. That was the beginning of almost 2 weeks of piggy isolation, and piggy crud.

So for almost the last two weeks we have been dealing. It only looked really serious at one point with Chase but Dr. Stephens fixed him up and we were good to go. We are now happy to be SWINE FREE. I however am still fighting off a bacterial lung infection. Nothing too crazy just need rest and for my meds to work. Calling back Monday to make sure why I am still having pain and fevers though I finished all my meds. Boo!

So with all of that said, I know some of you are waiting to hear what all we learned in Dallas and I promise I have many posts coming… so check back later this week and weekend!!

I think I will go google “I survived Swine of 09 Tshirts” now, and then hit the hay…. Tootles and thanks for all the prayers!!!!

Crab Soccer & Other Randomness

October6

This weekend was a very busy weekend. We did a TON of cleaning, had soccer games, and spent time with Neil’s family. I will spend the next few days preparing for our trip this week to Dallas for the autism conference.

So Saturday we woke up and got ready for soccer. We started the day off wrong. I got a new vitamin supplement called Gaba Calm for Alex. It has Gaba and Taurine in it and is supposed to be calming for kids like him. Also supposed to help him focus. I wanted to wait for the weekend to try it out so I could see first hand how he behaved and if there was a difference. So I gave it to him. I am pretty sure it had the opposite effect on him. The child was off the walk CRAZY. Those of you who know Alex –know– he is high energy already, try that times about 15 and you see the problem.

All 5 of us went to Aiden’s game. Alex was cracked out on the GABA, and was a complete heathen the entire game. Aiden did AWESOME as usual! The other team didn’t have enough players so Aiden played the first half on their team, and the second half on his real team. You could tell he felt really weird playing his friends and was holding back some. I am sure it did feel awkward. He did really well though and assisted in a goal.

After Aiden’s game was Chase and Alex’s game. Alex had been disciplined 3 times by this point and was doing a little better but was still off the wall. Chase decided he was DONE with soccer. He and Neil went and sat in the car. Alex was tearing up the soccer field doing great. Unfortunately he has taken to picking a goal he “likes” at the game, and scores goals in that goal only. No matter if it’s his teams goal or not. You try to explain it and remind him and he just tells you “well I like that goal”. This is the second game he has done that. So half of the game he is scoring goals for the other team, then we switch sides and he scores for our team. He got 3 goals this week. 2 for them, 1 for us. Everyone will be yelling “turn it around Alex, thats not our goal Alex, other way Alex” and he’s oblivious because he has the ball. When he scores he does the most funny victory dances that you can’t help but crack up. He is very very entertaining.

By far my favorite bizarre soccer moment was when the ball came right to him, he bent over and stopped it, and then gets into crab crawl position and kicks the ball and crab crawls after it to kick it again. Aiden and I were like WHAT IS HE DOING??? WHY?!?!?! The lady next to us couldn’t stop laughing. All we could do was laugh. I didn’t even know he knew how to crab crawl let alone play crab soccer… What made him do that I have no clue. But again entertaining… He did so many funny things in the game. I need to take the camera out there for his next game and video tape some of it.  If not for his randomness for his running. He has taken to exaggeratedly running with his tongue out of his mouth to the side with this intense look of concentration. It’s so bizarre and funny. Life would be so normal and boring without our little Alex.

So with all that said we are going to try the Gaba Calm one more time and see how it goes. If he acts all cracked out again then we are done. We just want to make sure it wasn’t just Alex and not the medication…..
