We went to Dallas again on Friday to see Dr. Rao. Chase did not have to attend the appointment as we were just going over test results. Chase had lots and lots of tests run and we were pretty anxious to hear what all the results were.
So we got to Dallas on time and checked with the doctor and they thought they were running on time but ended up not. We waited 2 hours for our appointment. That got old but it seems they are ALWAYS late as they give a lot of individualized attention to each kid.
Chase’s test results came back with lots of confirmation of things I felt were going on, and also a lot of new stuff. His blood allergy testing came back with him being allergic to many many things. These could be transient allergies or true allergies he’s ingested for so long he’s tolerating them but would function better without. Removing these allergens could increase good behavior and health but also increase sensitivity to these foods. The doctor wants us to remove them for 2 months and retest. He tested positive for things like peanuts, milk, egg whites, egg yolks, walnuts, soy, gluten, wheat, oats, and lot and lots more. Those are just the highest level of allergens. It was a long list.
Chase’s gut is imbalanced. He’s got lots and lots of bad bacteria and parasites, and NO GOOD bacteria to fight it off. However he wasn’t showing signs that he should of being really really sick so we caught it early enough to correct the problem if treated aggressively. Chase also has lots and lots of yeast in his system. So we are starting 2 very strong probiotics during the day and rotating them, and starting a different one at night. He also will take 2 different meds to rid his body of yeast, and eat a low yeast diet. Meaning no yeast, no sugary foods – natural or otherwise, things like that….
His viral titers came back most everything was good except polio and rubella. His polio did not even show up. He’s not immune at all even after being vaccinated for it multiple times. His rubella is very very high. The doctor was concerned his number was too high and wants to continue to monitor it.
Ummm nutrients…. his vitamin levels were all pretty good. He did show to be B-12 deficient, B6 deficient, and vitamin C deficient. We have already been giving him B-12, so we just added the other 2 vitamins.
His oxalate levels were wonky. Oxalates affect the brain. Too many in the body can cause inflammation to the body and brain. The doctor wanted to try him on a Low Oxalate diet and see what happens. This is the worst by far. We thought gluten/casein free sucked we had no clue. We have pages and pages of good wholesome foods he can’t eat. It’s going to be a challenge because a lot that he CAN eat, he can’t eat on his other diets. So his can list is very very short.
His levels in his brain were a little crazy to. Like dopamine, serotonin, etc… he gave us 2 meds for this. One is supposed to level things out gradually and calm him. The other is a as needed spray for outbusts and such.
Chase’s metal counts came back interesting. His pre-test which measures metal in his urine everything was in the normal range. His post-test when given a chelating agent orally showed that he has lots of metal to get rid of. The chelating agent draws metals out and binds to them and then he urinates the meds out and the metal with it. Chelating years ago was very very dangerous. Things are better now. There are still some forms I wouldn’t ever even remotely consider doing but the safer options seems to be necessary. In his post test his uranium was off the chart. Uranium is one of the easier metals to chelate and get rid of. Basically his other metals are going to be super high too but because his uranium is so high the medicine got rid of it and we have to wait for it to all be gone to see the next metal spike and be removed. His metals did all increase in count mostly his lead levels are pretty high. We expect mercury will be. We are going to do 2 more chelation tests in a few weeks to test out 2 other medications and see how much metal comes out with those tests. Very interested to see how it will work out. In the meantime the doctor suggested we switch to reverse osmosis water and watch what ground veggies we eat. :0)
There were a few things weird in his CBC count but nothing too too crazy. We are going to keep monitoring those things as well.
Overall the appointment went really well and we are going to put Chase on a bunch of new supplements and hopefully even things out. We look forward to seeing positive changes soon!! I’ll keep you updated!! :0)
